(catching up on a week of posts)
LOST continues to be awesome. I love the Desmond / Penelope story arc.
The time travel stuff is pretty interesting.

Went and saw Solare last night at the Troubadour. The band includes a couple of peeps from work (Christine and Josh).
Cool band. Horror of horrors the sets were running early! We arrived just in time to see them start.

Civilization in my favorite game ever. And I consider Sid Meier my hero.
Some guys came back from GDC and said when asked what the favorite game he's playing right now is, he replied Mercenaries. The game I was lead designer on.
Suffice to say that turn of events pleased me!

So, I finally decided to officially go to Vegas for Ian's birthday shindig type thing for the weekend of March 8th. It'll be my first time in the city in over a decade and actually the first time I fly there!

Pete leant me the first season of Dead Like Me. I've only watched a few episodes, but I really like it so far.
The main character, George, is kinda of like a more adult and apathetic version of Violet from the
Incredibles. That is if she swore and was killed by a de-orbiting toilet seat from the space station
Mir.

Serbian rioters, that splintered off from a group of 150,000 protesters, have set fire to the US Embassy. One person, apparently a rioter caught in the fire, has died.
There's a term in Serbian called "inat" that can be translated as spite, but more accurately I think could be described as "strength through spite." The best description I've heard is from the BBC article i linked to:
"All Serbs have inat, and do things in inat. It is doing things because someone has told you you can't, not necessarily because you actually want to."
Some people that know me may think about occasions where I displayed inat. And I'm the most white bread, American raised Serb you can find out there!

Work week starts again. Yay?
I'm almost capped on PTO, so I'll have to use it for something. I just hate it when I use PTO, but there's so much work that I'm "encouraged" to come in on the weekend. Which makes things less than a zero sum game, because I've used my PTO to have an equivalent length work week.

Today we celebrated the most important holiday of the year: Joe Don Baker Day! We've been celebrating it for thirteen years now. I've talked about a previous JDBD
here. The key is to celebrate the slovenliness and gluttony of the
man himself.

Every year at

Technically I posted this on Sunday, but it deals with Saturday events.
I saw Siouxsie for the first time tonight and Rasputina for the second time tonight!
I drove up to the Fonda and there was still a line of people to get in. A girl approaches me as I enter the line:
"Do you *mumble* ticket?"
"Are you asking if I have or if I want a ticket?"
"Do you have a ticket?" she asked sheepishly.
I reached into my jacket and handed her my spare ticket, at which point she started jumping up for joy.
Inside I made my way to the front left, not that far from the front. There was a pair of douchebags that kept trying to push their way in to get to the very front, but didn't make very much progress and relented.
Eventually Rasputina went on. The crowd was a bit distracted and noisier than I expected
As Rasputina started, the douchebags returned and tried to push their way in front of people again. The riled up some girls who were standing in front of me.
"Hey! You can't do that!"
"Sure we can. We were in front before and are just trying to get back."
"No you weren't. You're cutting in front of us."
"Shut up you fat bitch. You're all fat bitches."
This started to piss me off. I looked over to a security guard who was looking at the situation. He eventually interceded and told the douchebags that they had to move back. They argued, but eventually complied and moved right in front of me, blocking my view. Annoying enough, but even more annoying after how they behaved. So I tapped one of them on the shoulder:
"Keep moving fucker."
He gave me a look and started to say something. I kept glaring at him and he moved. Several minutes later he tried to cut in front of someone else and the security guard grabs him and forces him to the back of the venue.
Rasputina finishes and we wait for Siouxsie. Over an hour. A guy near us says:
"I know those guys acted kind of weird, but really they're just a pair of sweethearts."
Of course earlier someone else said:
"I know those guys. They *always* cause problems."
Eventually the douchebags return and hang out next to the guy who stood up for them. Standing right next to me. They start bickering:
"I won't be able to see Siouxsie from here. I don't have my glasses. I'm going to try and get to the front."
"Don't do that. Security is watching us and they know you've been a problem."
*crying*
"Don't cry. Just enjoy the show."
"I'm going to punch those fat bitches in the head!" *crying*
"Don't make a scene!"
This continues for a while, and he eventually pipes down. Siouxsie comes on:
A cute pixie girl in Siouxsie style makeup had been saving a space for one of her friends. Her friend shows up. The upset douchebag reacts.
"Oh you bitch! You fucking bitch!"
He proceeds to lunge forward. The security guard,
standing five feet from him and watching him when he does his, grabs him and ejects him from the venue.
Now everyone can finally enjoy the show! Of course at that moment the crowd lunges forward crushing everyone together.
I take the above picture and a girl behind comments and pats me on the back:
"That picture is so beautiful"
The show is pretty good. She plays mostly new stuff, but sings happy birthday to "Hong Kong Garden," does "Nightshift" and "Dear Prudence."
I get tapped on the back of the shoulder. There is a security guard who "busts" me for having a camera and forces me to the back of the crowd. Two songs before the encores. "Spellbound" is one of the encore songs. Two encores!
I go out front to buy some swag. And Melora from Rasputina is there:
And I head home after getting my "closet goth" on!
